Radish cake labelling inaccurate

January 27, 2016

The Centre for Food Safety has found that the sugar content of a prepackaged radish cake sample was found to be inconsistent with the declared value on its nutrition label.

The product, Amoy Radish Cake produced by Amoy Food Limited was taken from a supermarket in Lai Chi Kok.

Chemical analysis showed the actual sugar content was 2.9g per 100g, but the declared content on its nutrition label stated 1.3g per 100g.

The vendor has stopped selling the affected batch.

Prosecution action will be taken if there is sufficient evidence.
