December 31, 2015

The Centre for Food Safety has urged retailers to stop selling batches of milk candy and glutinous rice balls after their nutrient contents were found to be inconsistent with the values declared on the nutrition labels.

The products are: Peko Milk Candy from Japan,115g pack and Siu Ning Bo Tong Yuen - Chocolate Flavour, 150g pack.

The samples were taken from two department stores in Tsuen Wan for testing.

Results showed the candy sample contained no dietary fibre, which was inconsistent with the declared content of 1.4g per 100g.

The glutinous rice balls contained 69 milligrams per 100g sodium, which was inconsistent with the declared 22mg per 100g.
