With winter's arrival and the drop in temperature, the Government will step up measures to monitor bird carcasses and local live poultry farms as seasonal and avian influenza activities are likely to increase, Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man says.
Speaking to reporters today, he clarified there is currently no ban on poultry imported from the Mainland, but that the Mainland authorities had enhanced control measures which had led to a decrease in the live poultry supply.
