The Government is concerned about the city's low organ donation rate and will further explore different options, including legislation to introduce an opt-out system of organ donation, Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man says.
He told reporters today that he intends to further study citizens' acceptance of such legislation, adding that surveys will be conducted in coming months to gauge public views.
Dr Ko also stressed the need to double educational and promotional efforts, including mobilising non-governmental and healthcare organisations to mount publicity drives while providing a convenient means for people to register as donors.
