Service Corps recruitment starts

Pay it forward:  A volunteer from the last programme poses with students at a school in Meizhou.

The Service Corps programme is recruiting young volunteers aged 18 to 29 to provide teaching assistance in underprivileged areas of the Mainland, with applications closing on December 15.

 

Participants will serve primary and junior secondary students in Shaoguan or Meizhou in Guangdong in subjects including English, physical education, music, arts and computing from February to July 2016.

 

The Home Affairs Bureau will arrange on-campus accommodation, a stipend of RMB3,200 per month and transport expenses.

 

Applicants should be able to communicate in Putonghua, and read and write simplified Chinese.

 

Participants who complete the programme with a satisfactory performance will be given a certificate and a $5,000 cash award per semester served.
