Co-operation continued:  Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man (left) and Minister of the National Health & Family Planning Commission Li Bin renew the medical co-operation agreement.

Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man and Minister of the National Health & Family Planning Commission Li Bin today signed a renewed version of the co-operation agreement between Hong Kong and the Mainland to promote health development and enhance the quality of healthcare services.

 

Dr Ko said the two places have been in close collaboration on medical and health aspects, adding that the agreement will lay a more solid foundation for them to co-operate and help promote public health.

 

Under the agreement, both sides encourage co-operation and exchanges between their departments, institutions, scientific research institutions and hospitals.

 

Co-operation areas include prevention and control of diseases, emergency response on health for sudden public incidents, medical training, healthcare services development, health promotion, Chinese medicine, healthcare planning, hospital management, health legislation, information of medical and health, health regulation and enforcement, and community health services.

 

Ms Li, leading a Mainland delegation, visited Queen Mary Hospital this morning. They called on the Hospital Authority and the Academy of Medicine yesterday, and signed a memorandum of understanding with the academy to promote co-operation on medical education.
