Crabs pass safety checks

October 09, 2015

Sixty-six hairy crab samples have passed Centre for Food Safety tests.

They were collected at import and retail level for chemical tests.

The crabs were checked for veterinary drug residues, metallic contaminants, synthetic hormones, colouring matters and oxalic acid.

The centre advised people to be careful when buying and consuming the seasonal delicacy.

Traders were also reminded to source hairy crabs from reliable suppliers.
