The Department of Health has received three reports of heavy metal poisoning after consumption of medications prescribed outside Hong Kong for treatment of chronic skin conditions.
The cases involve three men, aged 44 to 54, who had consulted a man named Shen Hong who claimed to be a Chinese medicine practitioner in Changping, Dongguan from August 2012 to August 2015. They are all in a stable condition.
According to Mainland regulators Shen Hong is not a registered Chinese medicine practitioner in Guangdong.
The department urged people to consult qualified or registered practitioners when seeking consultation outside Hong Kong.
