11 found to have borderline lead level

A total of 780 of the 791 blood samples taken from public estate residents affected by lead in drinking water have been found to contain normal levels of lead, the Department of Health announces.

 

The remaining 11 residents are on borderline raised levels, including nine children, one pregnant woman and one lactating woman. They are in the range of 5 to 9.3 micrograms per decilitre, indicating potential health risks.

 

The department will perform lead exposure assessments these residents and arrange preliminary developmental assessment for the children.

 

The Hospital Authority will arrange health evaluations for them.

 

People can call hotline 2125 1122 for enquiries and to make blood test appointments.

 

As at 5pm today, the hotline had received 7,110 enquiries and arranged 4,559 blood tests.
