MERS transparency improving

June 06, 2015

South Korea has improved its transparency in providing Middle East Respiratory Syndrome information, Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man says, calling on Korean authorities to ensure all MERS data is fully transparent.

He told the media today nine new MERS cases have been reported in Korea, all spread in hospitals.

It brings the number of confirmed MERS cases in Korea to 49, and another case was exported from Korea to the Mainland.

He said he will keep strengthening communication between Hong Kong and Korea on MERS.

Meanwhile, the Government will implement a colorectal cancer screening programme by the end of this year. In the first phase, people aged 61 to 70 will be invited for screening, which will later expand to those aged over 50.
