Campaign targets newborns' families

May 17, 2015

To relieve the pressure on families with newborn babies, the Home Affairs Bureau and Family Council have launched the BB Family Club campaign to promote positive messages and values.

At the campaign’s launch ceremony this afternoon, Family Council Chairman Prof Daniel Shek noted a happy family is the best gift for children and is an important element in their healthy development. He encouraged parents with newborns to cherish and enjoy their parenting moments.

The Family Council will join with other stakeholders to organise promotional activities aimed at fostering happy families, including:

* a family education package for families with newborn babies to help new parents understand and adapt to their new roles, and encourage them to embrace the new challenges the baby brings to the family;

* collaborating with the Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong to organise workshops based on the material in the package from June 14;

* distributing baby journals to mothers-to-be registered at the territory's Maternal & Child Health Centres for antenatal services for one year from mid-June; and

* collaborating with Radio Television Hong Kong to organise promotional activities including two related radio programmes.
