Chief Secretary Carrie Lam hosted a tea reception at Victoria House today for participants of The E-League programme, a year-long youth network development programme pioneered by Eastern District Office.

Mrs Lam said the Government attaches great importance to youth work, noting that the Chief Executive announced measures to strengthen the Government's networking and communication with young people at the district level in the 2014 Policy Address.

The 18 District Offices under the Home Affairs Department have been given additional resources since 2014 to take the initiative forward.

Mrs Lam added that she was pleased The E-League programme was successful and well-received by students in the district.

She encouraged the students to grasp the opportunity to learn, develop their talents and contribute to the community, and thanked all participating corporations for their support.

The E-League programme was launched in 2014 and a total of 22 students from 14 secondary schools were chosen to participate.

Activities include educational seminars, visits to Government and statutory bodies, as well as to local corporations representing Hong Kong’s major industries, a team-building training camp and study visits to the Mainland and Seoul.

The nomination period for the 2015/16 programme has just begun.
