The Centre for Food Safety today banned the import of poultry meat and products, including poultry eggs from different areas of the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Palestine and Burkina Faso due to avian influenza outbreaks.
In the United States, the affected areas include Nobles County and Kandiyohi County in Minnesota; Beadle County in South Dakota; and Judith Basin County in Montana.
The ban also includes Oxford County, in Ontario, Canada; Noord-Brabant in the Netherlands; the Gaza Strip in Palestine, and Kadiogo and Sanguie provinces in Burkina Faso.
The centre has contacted the authorities concerned and will closely monitor information issued by the World Organisation for Animal Health.
