The Department of Health has ordered the recall of a batch of proprietary Chinese medicine, Tai Wo Tung Cough Pills, which have been found to exceed the bacterial limit.
The department today instructed registered holder Tai Wo Tung Medicine Company to recall the product.
The Public Health Laboratory Centre confirmed a sample from pills batch number CP14076 had a total bacterial count 18 times above the registration criteria.
No adverse reports have been received so far, and the department has instructed the recall as a precautionary measure.
It urged people who feel unwell after taking the product to stop using it and seek a doctor’s advice.
