Pesticide found in orange sample

December 31, 2014

The Centre for Food Safety has found excessive pesticide residue in an orange sample.

The sample was taken for tests under the centre’s regular food surveillance programme. It is following up on the case including tracing the fruit’s source and distribution.

The centre said the level of pesticide residue detected in the sample was unlikely to cause adverse health effects under normal consumption.

It reminded people to rinse fruit thoroughly and peel them before eating.
