Pesticide found in fruit, veg samples

December 10, 2014

The Centre for Food Safety has found excessive pesticide residue in samples of choi sum and grapefruit.

The two retail samples were taken for tests under the centre's regular surveillance programme. It is following up on the cases.

Based on the level of pesticide residue detected in the samples, food safety officials said they were unlikely to cause adverse health effects under normal consumption.

It reminded people to rinse and soak vegetables before eating them to reduce any pesticides on the surface.
