Oil from 2 more firms banned

November 07, 2014

The import and supply of edible fats and oils made by Taiwanese companies Beei Hae Oil & Fats and Shyeh Chyng Enterprise, and food products made with the oils they produced, have been banned under a food safety order.

The companies' oil was suspected to have been produced using substandard ingredients.

Retailers have also been ordered to recall the problematic products within 14 days, and dispose of them in accordance with the order.

It is the third order issued following the discovery of tainted lard manufactured by Taiwan's Chang Guann.

The Centre for Food Safety will continue to follow up on the incident and take appropriate action. It will also enhance surveillance of edible oil and relatively high-risk foods imported from other places.
