4 foods fail safety tests

October 16, 2014

Four food samples have failed Centre for Food Safety checks.

A sample of soft ice-cream made upon order had a total bacteria count and a coliform count exceeding legal limits.

A broccoli sample was found to contain cadmium at a level exceeding the legal limit, and samples of cold pork rice vermicelli and shrimp sashimi were found to contain salmonella.

The ice cream retailer has stopped sale of the affected product.

The centre issued a warning letter to the importer of the broccoli, who has disposed of the batch with none entering the local market.

The restaurants that served the cold pork rice vermicelli and shrimp sashimi have suspended sale of the products and will improve their food production process.
