Chief Secretary Carrie Lam opened the Exhibition on China's Lunar Exploration Programme at the Science Museum today.
Running until August 24, the show features 20 models and interactive exhibits explaining the accomplishments of the Chang'e-1, 2 and 3 missions, scientific knowledge related to China's lunar exploration programme, and the Moon itself.
They include the lunar lander for Chang'e-3, the Yutu Lunar Rover, Long March rockets, a satellite, and simulations of the launch site.
The camera pointing system for the lunar lander designed by Hong Kong Polytechnic University researchers to take photos on the Moon will also be shown.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mrs Lam said having Hong Kong researchers contributing to the nation’s aerospace development is a great honour, adding she believes Chinese astronauts will soon be able to land on the Moon.
