The Government will pay one month's rent for public rental housing tenants in August, benefiting about 730,000 tenants.
The Housing Authority said the Government will pay a month’s rent for normal public housing tenants. Tenants paying additional rent will be waived a month’s net rent.
The Financial Secretary announced a series of one-off relief measures in the Budget, including the rent waiver for public housing tenants. The proposal was approved by the Legislative Council Finance Committee this month.
The authority will notify all tenants of the arrangement.
