Leisure venues to open as skateparks

June 27, 2014

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will designate five venues as skateparks from July 28, opening them up to freestyle BMX, skateboarding and aggressive inline skating.

These include the cycling grounds at Po Kong Village Road Park in Wong Tai Sin and On Fuk Street Playground in the North District, the skateboarding grounds at On Lok Mun Street Playground in North District and Hong Kong Velodrome Park in Sai Kung, in addition to the existing skateboard ground at Lai Chi Kok Park.

Users should be at least eight years old, and must wear a helmet and appropriate footwear. Adult supervision is recommended for those under 12.

The department will organise fun days to promote the use of these extreme sports venues, as well as introducing safety equipment and guidelines.
