The Centre for Health Protection confirmed a human H7N9 case tonight, the eighth in Hong Kong so far.
The patient is a Hong Kong resident living in Shenzhen.
He has underlying illnesses and developed a fever, cough, blood-stained sputum and diarrhoea on March 31.
He returned to Hong Kong yesterday and was admitted to North District Hospital.
He was transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital today and is in stable condition.
He recently bought slaughtered pigeons from a wet market near his residence in Shenzhen.
No close contacts have been identified so far, while healthcare workers, ambulance staff, and officers at Lo Wu Control Point will be traced for medical surveillance.
