Collection digitisation:  Assistant Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Lee Yuk-man and Hok Hoi Library Chairman Chan Siu-nam (both centre) sign the Hok Hoi Collection Digitisation Agreement.

Library collection to be digitised

February 17, 2014

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department has signed an agreement to digitise the Hok Hoi Collection.

Founded in 1923, Hok Hoi Library has 35,000 books, including rare classical Chinese thread-sewn books, valuable out-of-print books, and manuscripts of Chinese classics, many of which are of a high academic standard.

Assistant Director of Leisure & Cultural Services (Libraries & Development) Lee Yuk-man signed the deal with Hok Hoi Library Chairman Chan Siu-nam today.

Hok Hoi Library transferred its book collection to the City Hall Public Library in 1962, which moved to the Central Library in 2001 to enhance public access.

Readers will be able to access the rare collections through the public libraries' Multimedia Information System from mid-year.
