HK hosts cultural forum

Officials from 10 Asian countries took part in the Asian Cultural Ministers' Panel Discussion today, the highlight of the Asia Cultural Co-operation Forum 2013, hosted by the Home Affairs Bureau.
 
Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing said at the session Hong Kong is committed to promoting regional cultural co-operation and exchange in Asia.
 
"As an international business, finance and shipping centre in the heart of Asia, Hong Kong also aspires to become a cultural hub. The West Kowloon Cultural District project, which is now making good progress, underlines our determination to promote long-term cultural development."
 
He said the Government has been adopting a multi-pronged approach in promoting literary arts, including literature festivals, award schemes and competitions, setting up archives, and conducting research.
 
Held in Hong Kong for the eighth year, the forum fosters regional cultural co-operation, and promotes culture and the arts.
 
Officials from the Mainland, Brunei, Cambodia, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam took part.
