Applications for the Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme will be accepted from today until December 31.
The 2013-14 scheme is organised by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and the Equal Opportunities Commission, to encourage enterprises and organisations to adopt accessibility in web design and development for the sake of people with disabilities and the elderly.
Websites meeting the prescribed accreditation criteria will be granted gold or silver awards, and will be able to display the award's logo.
This year's scheme includes the Most Favourite Websites award to recognise user-friendly sites, and a new Mobile Application Stream.
The scheme is open to all local enterprises and organisations, non-governmental organisations, academia and quasi-government organisations.
The awards presentation ceremony will be held in April.
