Poultry products banned

August 06, 2013
The Centre for Food Safety today banned the import of poultry and poultry products from Friesland in the Netherlands.

The World Organisation for Animal Health reported an outbreak of low pathogenic H7 avian influenza at a poultry farm in the province.

The centre said it will monitor the situation and liaise with local egg importers, distributors and supermarkets.

About 10,000 tonnes of frozen poultry meat and 2.4 million poultry eggs from the Netherlands were imported into Hong Kong in the first five months of this year.
