Drug recall:  The Department of Health has ordered the recall of a batch of Hairegenerator which contains excessive mercury.

Chinese medicine recalled

The Department of Health today instructed licensed proprietary Chinese medicine manufacturer Hang Cheong Lung Pharmaceutical to recall batch number: 060782 of Hairegenerator (registration number: HKP-03637), as it contains excessive mercury.
 
The medicine is for the treatment of hair loss.
 
Acute mercury poisoning can cause inflammation of the mouth while prolonged exposure to mercury can damage the neurological system and kidneys.
 
Hang Cheong Lung has set up a hotline (2543 2472) to answer enquiries.
