The Department of Health instructed a licensed drug wholesaler to recall a batch of Weelgac-S Syrup cough syrup today.
 
Government laboratory tests found quality defects which may affect the product's efficacy.
 
A total of 6,000 bottles of the affected batch (registration no. HK-12650, batch no. 421201) were imported into Hong Kong from Guangzhou in December 2012 by wholesaler National Pharmaceutical. About 3,400 bottles were supplied to local pharmacies.
