Woman tested for novel coronavirus

April 04, 2013
The Centre for Health Protection received a report from Queen Elizabeth Hospital today of a suspected case of severe respiratory disease associated with novel coronavirus.

The 37-year-old woman, with good past health, developed fever, headache and shortness of breath since April 1. She is now in isolation in the hospital and her condition is stable.

She had travelled to Turkey and Dubai from March 24 to 31.

Chest X-rays showed left lower lobe pneumonia. Lab test results are expected to be available tomorrow.

The centre stresses that no human infection with this virus has been identified so far in Hong Kong.

Travellers returning from novel coronavirus-affected countries with respiratory symptoms are advised to wear masks, seek medical attention and reveal their travel history to doctors.
