Tobacco Control Office Inspectors have issued 77 fixed penalty notices to smoking offenders in a weekend crackdown.
They checked 152 statutory no-smoking areas from January 25 to 27, working with Police.
The office conducted 26,209 inspections last year, issuing 8,019 fixed-penalty notices and 179 summonses to smoking offenders.
People cannot smoke or carry a lighted cigarette, cigar or pipe, in statutory no-smoking areas, including various indoor and outdoor public areas.
Smoking of shisha or e-cigarettes in a no smoking area is also an offence.
