January 22, 2013
The Centre for Health Protection today confirmed a case of invasive community-associated Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA), a drug-resistant bacterium, involving a 25-year-old man living on the Mainland.
He fell ill and sought medical consultation on the Mainland in early January.
He was admitted to a private hospital in Hong Kong on January 5, and was discharged the next day. His clinical diagnosis was pneumonia.
He tested positive for CA-MRSA.
