The Department of Health today urged people not to buy or consume an oral product called Te Xiao Feng Shi Wang as it may contain undeclared Western drug ingredients that are dangerous to health.
 
The Hospital Authority notified the department of a 61-year-old man with chronic illness who was admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital on January 3, and is now in a critical condition. He said he had consumed the product, but stopped using it about three months before the onset of symptoms.
 
The authority found undeclared Western medicines in the product, including prednisone and a number of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as indomethacin, diclofenac, piroxicam, naproxen and ibuprofen.
 
He obtained the product from a friend who had purchased it on the Mainland.
 
People in possession of the product can submit it to the department’s Drug Office at Wu Chung House, Wan Chai.
