Brooklyn poultry imports banned

The import of all poultry and poultry products, including eggs, from Kings County, Brooklyn, New York, has been banned with immediate effect, the Centre for Food Safety announced today.
The centre received notification from US authorities about the detection of avian influenza H5 in a live bird market.
Virus isolation results have yet to be confirmed.
The centre is seeking further information from the US, and will closely monitor the situation.
