Dangerous product:  Leisure 18 Slimming Coffee was found to contain undeclared and banned drug ingredients that are dangerous to health.

Man arrested for illicit drug

January 17, 2013
A 39-year-old man was arrested for illegal possession of Part I poisons and unregistered pharmaceutical products, the Department of Health said today.

It came after the Hospital Authority reported that a 24-year-old woman was hospitalised on January 10 after consuming a product called Leisure 18 Slimming Coffee.

She experienced unstable emotions, delusion, and auditory hallucinations, and was admitted to Kowloon Hospital. She tested positive for sibutramine and sibutramine metabolites, and is now in stable condition.

The product was bought from a grocery shop in Liksang Plaza, Tsuen Wan. The Government Laboratory found two undeclared and banned Western medicines, namely sibutramine and phenolphthalein, in the product.

Unregistered pharmaceutical products (mainly vitamins) and Part I poisons (external creams) were also found at shop.

The department urged people who have purchased the product to stop using it and see a doctor.
