Saving lives:  The Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service is urging the public to give blood.

Red Cross issues blood appeal

January 09, 2013
The Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service is urging the public to give blood, as its inventory is only sufficient for four or five days.

The Red Cross said today the recent cold weather has hindered blood collection, yet there has been a sharp increase in blood demand from hospitals.

It urged the public to help it replenish its blood stocks to stabilise local blood supply.
