Boy critical with flu

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a confirmed case of severe paediatric influenza A infection affecting a three-year-old boy.
 
The boy, who has an underlying medical condition, fell ill on January 3 and was admitted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of Prince of Wales Hospital the following day. He tested positive for influenza A, and is in critical condition
 
The boy has no recent travel history. His elder brother and sister developed mild upper respiratory symptoms recently.
 
The centre reminded members of the public to stay vigilant and take precautionary measures against influenza.
