January 04, 2013
There were 1,013 cases of pregnant non-local women going to accident and emergency departments in public hospitals for delivery without a prior booking in 2012, down by 643 cases on 2011, the Hospital Authority said today.
In December, there were 19 cases, with seven booked cases.
Of last year's 1,013 cases, 330 were booked cases.
The authority reiterated that public hospitals have now stopped accepting delivery bookings for non-local pregnant women.
