Man sentenced for assaulting officer

January 02, 2013
A 30-year-old man was given a suspended sentence in Tsuen Wan Magistracy today for assaulting a Food & Environmental Hygiene Department officer, and for obstructing a public officer in carrying out his duties.

He was sentenced to a month's jail for each of the two charges, to run concurrently, and suspended for a year.

He was arrested on August 22 for assaulting the department officer who arrived at the scene to help the enforcement officer take prosecution action against the defendant for displaying a commercial promotional easy-mount frame on Ho Pui Street, Tsuen Wan.

The defendant was also fined $500 for causing obstruction in a public place.
