EV71 case probed

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a case of Enterovirus-71 infection, with a meningitis complication, involving an 11-year-old boy.
 
He fell ill on August 27 and was admitted to United Christian Hospital on September 2, and diagnosed with meningitis. He was discharged on September 8.
 
He tested positive for EV71.
 
He travelled to the Mainland with family members in mid August. His four-year-old sister has mouth ulcers, while other home contacts are asymptomatic.
