Mooncakes pass safety tests
September 07, 2012
All 270 mooncake samples collected under the Centre for Food Safety's seasonal surveillance programme have passed safety checks.
The samples covered more than 20 brands, including traditional, snowy, ice cream, and other types of mooncakes.
They were collected from various retailers and food factories.
They were checked for colouring matters, preservatives, antioxidants, pesticides, heavy metals, aflatoxins, mineral oil, bacteria, coliform organisms, and pathogens like salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes.
