NZ infant formula iodine deficient

September 04, 2012
An infant formula imported from New Zealand was found to have low iodine content and could have potentially adverse health effects on infants, the Centre for Food Safety said today.

Parents should refrain from feeding their babies with an infant formula and the trade should also stop selling the product.

The product is WIOM Infant Formula Stage 1 - From Birth to 6 months manufactured by WISDOM Dairy (NZ) Ltd. Its expiry date is May 24, 2013 and its batch number is 43862.

The centre has informed the relevant importer of the test results. The importer said only one batch of products has been imported into Hong Kong, it has now stopped sale of the products concerned and initiated a product recall.
