Infant formulae hotline hours reduced

August 17, 2012
A hotline for those with questions about infant milk formulae with low iodine content has received 4,066 enquiries since August 8, the Department of Health said today, adding its operating hours will be reduced due to the low utilisation rate.

It said 157 callers had infants who were mainly consuming the infant formulae concerned, and it advised them to change to another brand of cow milk-based formula with adequate iodine content.

The hotline received about 20 queries a day in the past two days. Starting from tomorrow, it will operate from 9am to 6pm from Monday to Friday. Outside these hours, calls will be diverted to voicemail.

Updated information will be uploaded to the department’s website.
