Seniors' recognition

Seniors' recognition:  Chief Secretary and Family Council Chairman Carrie Lam gives an address at the launch of the "Love & Respect Thy Elders" campaign.

Campaign promotes respect for seniors

August 11, 2012
The "Love & Respect Thy Elders" campaign officially launched today, to promote regard for seniors and encourage all family members to put love, concern, respect and care into action.

The Family Council, Commission on Youth, Elderly Commission and Women's Commission co-organised the campaign, which kicked off at the Kowloon Park Piazza.

Speaking at the launch, Chief Secretary and Family Council Chairman Carrie Lam said cherishing families has always been a Chinese tradition and she hopes the campaign will encourage the younger generation to practice their filial role.

The Family Council will organise city-wide promotional activities, including radio programmes, press advertorials, an e-games competition, an essay writing competition and a musical from August 2012 to March 2013.
