Space mission delegation to visit HK

The Tiangong-1/Shenzhou-9 manned space docking and rendezvous mission delegation will arrive in Hong Kong on August 10 for a four-day visit at the invitation of Chief Executive CY Leung.
 
The 40-member delegation will comprise leader Niu Hongguang, astronauts Jing Haipeng, Liu Wang and Liu Yang, as well as key commanders and designers of the manned space programme.
 
Mr Leung said he warmly welcomed the delegation and was grateful to the Central People's Government for the arrangements. He also said the Shenzhou-9 mission's accomplishment has opened a new chapter in the country's aerospace history.
 
"Through the delegation's visit, Hong Kong people share the joy of China's remarkable achievements in its manned space missions. The astronauts' perseverance also serves as an encouragement for Hong Kong people."
 
The delegation will meet the media in the afternoon on August 10 and attend a welcome dinner at the Convention & Exhibition Centre.
 
They will attend a dialogue session with local secondary and primary students, and the Hong Kong Welcomes the Delegation of Shenzhou-9 Manned Spaceflight Mission Variety Show with around 2,000 spectators at the Convention & Exhibition Centre on August 11.
 
The delegation will tour Hong Kong and will open the Exhibition on China's First Manned Space Docking Mission at the Science Museum on August 12. They will also attend at a dialogue session with students at Chinese University on Shenzhou-9's space technology and China's aerospace science development.
 
On August 13, they will attend a tea gathering with the women's sector, during which the three astronauts, including China's first female astronaut, Liu Yang, will share their experiences. They will then tour Victoria Harbour.
 
The delegation will attend a farewell ceremony at Government House before concluding their visit and leaving for Macau.
