20 ill with hand-foot-mouth disease
May 25, 2012
The Centre for Health Protection is calling on people to maintain personal hygiene following an outbreak of hand, foot and mouth disease involving 20 children at a Kowloon City kindergarten.
The 10 boys and 10 girls, aged three to nine, have developed oral ulcers, fever, rash and blisters on their hands or feet since April 24.
A four-year-old boy required hospitalisation. All are stable.
Three children tested positive for the Coxsackie virus.
The centre’s staff have provided health advice to the kindergarten.
