Welfare cases fall 0.3%

The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance caseload fell to 274,630 cases with 437,497 recipients in April, down 0.3%.
 
The Social Welfare Department said today low-earnings and unemployment cases both fell 1.2% to 11,621 and 25,778, while single-parent and old-age cases both dropped 0.2% to 32,503 and 153,936 cases.
 
Permanent-disability cases fell 0.1% to 18,353.
 
Ill-health cases rose 0.1 % to 25,296 cases.
