May 21, 2012
The Centre for Health Protection is investigating an outbreak of kerato-conjunctivitis among participants in a rugby match in Singapore between April 21 and 22, affecting 31 people aged five to 16.
The centre said 11 more boys, aged nine to 16 from the same rugby team, the Discovery Bay Pirates, have developed itchy, painful and red eyes with a discharge since late April and have sought medical consultation.
The centre also identified at least one player aged 10 and one family member aged five from another team, the DeA Tigers, who have developed similar symptoms since early May and sought medical treatment.
None required hospitalisation. They are all stable.
