Man treated for drug-resistant infection

An 87-year-old man is being treated for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, the Centre for Health Protection announced today.
 
The Central & Western District man was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital on April 24 for lower back pain. He later developed pneumonia.
 
He was transferred to Grantham Hospital for further treatment on May 5.
 
He is now stable.
