Nutrition Calculator upgraded

April 09, 2012
The Centre for Food Safety today launched an upgraded version of its Nutrition Calculator application.

It enables users to know the daily upper limits and daily intake goals for different nutrients through a newly added scrolling widget on the front page.

Launched in October, the app allows the public to use nutrition information on prepackaged food to set up their personal food database.

The new version provides more nutrient information of public concern and facilitates more effective and convenient use of the data in the personal food database.

The app can also highlight food items which are low-fat, low-sugar or low-sodium.

Users can calculate their body mass index and daily energy requirement on the new app as well as delete selected food records.

It supports multiple users in setting up their personal profiles on the same mobile device, each displayed with their own selected picture.

Users can also exchange information on food items in their personal database with other users via Bluetooth.

The app can be used on iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches. Current users can download it by following the upgrade instruction. New users can find the app in Apple App Store.
