Welfare cases fall

The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in January fell 0.2% to 276,031, with a total of 441,307 recipients.
 
The Social Welfare Department reported today, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.3% to 12,157, while unemployment cases fell 1.2% to 26,528.
 
Single-parent cases dropped 0.5% to 32,708, while permanent disability and ill-health cases decreased 0.3% and 0.1% to 18,395 and 25,149.
 
Old-age cases increased 0.1% to 154,038.
